Before you drive off — a renter's checklist

June 10, 2026

Most rental disagreements come down to one question: was that scratch there before? Five minutes at the handover settles it in advance.

Walk around with your camera

Before turning the key, film a slow walk-around of the whole car and photograph anything notable: scratches, dents, rim damage, windscreen chips. Add the dashboard with the odometer and the fuel or charge level. Photos are timestamped — they protect you and the host equally.

Check the basics inside

Lights, indicators, wipers, horn, mirrors. Make sure you know where the warning triangle, vest and spare wheel (or repair kit) are — they are mandatory equipment. Pair your phone before driving, not on the road.

Agree on the details in chat

Use the in-app chat to confirm the exact handover spot, the time, the fuel rule (return as received) and who to call if you are running late. Keeping the agreement in the chat means there is a record both of you can point to.

During the trip

Park sensibly, fuel with the correct type, and message the host early if your plans change — extending through the platform is straightforward, silently returning late is not.

Returning the car

Return it on time, with the agreed fuel level, roughly as clean as you took it. Do the same photo round at drop-off. Then leave an honest review — ratings are what keep good cars and good hosts visible on the platform.
